Violetta “The Singing Opera Bear” has arrived at the BOC. She’s
a plush, cuddly diva (yes, such a rare creature does exist!), who is formally
attired in a white satin evening gown, opera gloves, jewelry and a white camellia.
As she sings “Sempre Libera” from La Traviata her expression
and animated movements convey the joy of a glittering lifestyle in the Paris
of grand opera. For opera lovers of all ages, collectors of plush bears, or
those searching for a unique gift for a child or friend who has everything.

The Singing Opera Bear
Violetta sings “Sempre Libera” from La Traviata, by Giuseppe
Verdi
Soprano Penny Shumate is the voice of The Opera Bear.
The heart breaking story of the beloved opera, La Traviata,
is one of love, sacrifice and forgiveness. The beautiful courtesan, Violetta
Valery, gives up her carefree life, or “Sempre Libera”, in Paris
to live in the country with her true love, Alfredo Germont.
Her joy is short lived, when Alfredo’s father calls upon her
to sacrifice her love for Alfredo, to preserve his family’s reputation.
Jealousy, anger and misunderstanding follow. In the end forgiveness reunites
the lovers, but it is too late. Violetta dies of consumption.
